Resources

Where is that instruction guide for parenting? Is there one for being a wife? How about a tutorial for life in general? Well, as believers in Jesus, we know that it really does exist and the Bible is what lays down the rails for our life. Just as being in a fellowship of believers at church spurs us on in our faith, so being inspired by godly women who have a passion for biblical womanhood spurs us on in our pursuit to the same end.

“Walk with the wise and become wise,
for a companion of fools suffers harm.”
Proverbs 13:20

To be among women who honor and uphold the design God has formed in us is amazingly powerful. It is true that we do have the Bible and it is enough. In my humanity I get distracted, I lose track of what I am supposed to be doing, what I want to be doing, how I am growing and even past lessons. I am strengthened by women who will call me out and remind me to consult and yield to God’s instruction book for my life. Without them, I may just forge ahead on my own and in my own strength. I appreciate the women who remind me where my strength comes from.

A few years ago I was sitting at a ladies meeting and was taken aback to hear the speaker say about Biblical mothering, “There’s no one who is teaching about this stuff.” Her statement stunned me since I have known of many who do teach on that very subject. I agree that not all Christian women or Christian leaders teach about Biblical parenting or Biblical marriage, there are many out there who do. When I was younger I had a huge thirst to be molded by these very leaders and I sought them out. As I discovered resources to guide me in parenting, I found that truly their wisdom sprung from the word of God itself and it taught me not only about mothering and marriage but about life as a Christian.

In coming months I will be listing a few of the resources that have or that currently do encourage me in my walk with the Lord that then flows into all job descriptions of my life. My recommendations will grow as I hear about ministries. It’s like a scavenger hunt for mentors. No one is perfect and no ministry is perfect in all ways I suppose. So I encourage you to check out the ministries that I love, listen to what they have to say and compare that to your own Bible study to confirm that you are in agreement (and if you are not, why not). Let us grow together as we journey to know God more and share our faith with others.
